NEWS FLASH:
CFA fencer does great in World Cup event in Budapest Hungary!
Coach Ania and our 15 year old student Miranda Litzinger were in Budapest, Hungary for her first World Cup of the season. The results and report are below from both Ania and Laura Litzinger (Miranda’s mom).
In addition what is not mentioned is that the international points she earned now move her up from, I think 13th to 8th in the US national point standings. She needs to get into the top 3 US cadet fencers (age under 17) to be on the US World Team for the World Championships.
This will be tough and will take dedication, motivation, and fencing consistency with some bright moments, and a little luck won’t hurt. We are just taking it event by event with full intent – as I like to say.

Hello from Coach Ania in Budapest,
Hi Everyone. Miranda did very well in her first World Cup of the season. She finished 13 out of 130 competitors and lost only by 2 points to get to the top 8.
Great fencing Miranda!
Ania

Thanks (and more tournament detail) from Miranda’s Mom:
All that great energy everyone has been sending Miranda's way must have worked.
1. Miranda won all or her pool bouts and was seeded 7th after pools.
2. She had a bye into the round of 64 (because of her high seed).
3. She won her first bout to get to 32 and then her 2nd bout to get to the top 16.
4. She then lost her next bout by 2 touches to get to the top 8 without having to go into repecharge. She says she wanted it soooooo bad.
5. She then went into the repechage rounds.
6. She won over USA teammate Julia Lee.
7. She then lost her next DE.
8. She placed 13th!!!!!!!!!

I talked to Miranda today and she was pleased with her fencing. I am so proud of her.
Thank you to everyone who has supported her.
